Marathon Man

Today is the Los Angeles Marathon. Somehow someone somewhere has managed to convince some city official that a few thousand people jogging is more important than access in and around Los Angeles for millions of people. How does the marathon benefit Los Angeles? It seems like all the merchants, restaurants, and shops anywhere in the 213/323 area code would be effected by today's stupid PE class. Why must we all be subjected to this? The freeways, Pico, La Brea, La Cienega, Crenshaw, 6th St., 3rd St., and on and on -- the whole fucking area must be inconvenienced for the entire day today to accommodate a few thousand sweaty assholes in short shorts? Someone, please, help me understand!!!
